A Have you ever been to the world’s smallest bookstore? The World’s Smallest Bookstore，whose official name is just these three words， sits quietly about 100 miles northeast of Toronto. The bookstore is about 10 feet by 10 feet，so it is easy to imagine how tiny it really is.The bookstore is open 24 hours a day.Inside the bookstore are various books， especially literary books and classic authors’ works. So if you are looking for something popular，you may get a bit disappointed there. Another special feature of this bookstore is that each book only costs three dollars. All the expenses are paid on the honor system，which means buyers should make a note of what they’ve bought and leave their money by themselves. So the tools of the trade in this bookstore are quite simple：pens，papers，light bulbs and a label ?maker. In order to catch passers?by’s attention，the billboards(广告牌) of the bookstore are several times bigger than the store itself. With these large eye?catchers，many people are willing to stop by and have a visit. 1．What’s the passage mainly about? A．The world’s smallest bookstore. B．A strange way of selling books. C．The popular books nowadays. D．The popular bookstores in the world. D．Pay on the net and then get the book(s) in the store. C 解析：细节理解题。根据第四段第二句 All the expenses are paid on the honor system，which means buyers should make a note of what they’ve bought and leave their money by themselves.可知，顾客选好书后把钱留在书店里，故选 C。
B William Shakespeare，more perhaps than any other writer，made full use of the greatest resources of the English language. Most of us use about five thousand words in our normal employment of English；Shakespeare in his works used about twenty?five thousand！There is probably no better way for a foreigner to appreciate the richness and variety of the English language than by studying the various ways in which Shakespeare used it.Such a study is well worth the effort，even though some aspects of English usage，and the meaning of many words，have changed since Shakespeare’s day. However，it is surprising that we should know comparatively little about the life of the greatest English author. We know that Shakespeare was born in 1564 in Stratford， and that he died there in 1616.He almost certainly attended the Grammar School in the town，but of this we cannot be sure.We know he was married there in 1582 to Anne Hathaway and that he had three children. We know that he spent much of his life in London writing his masterpieces. But this is almost all that we do know. However，what is important about Shakespeare’s life is not its incidental details but its products，the plays and the poems. For many years scholars have been trying to add a few facts about Shakespeare’s life to the small number we already possess and for an equally long time critics (批评) have been theorizing (理论化) about the plays.Sometimes，indeed，it seems that the poetry of Shakespeare will disappear under the great mass of comment that has been written upon it. Fortunately this is not likely to happen.Shakespeare’s_people have long delighted not just the English but lovers of literature everywhere，and will continue
to do so after the scholars and critics and all their works have been forgotten. 4 ． According to the writer ， which of the following remains uncertain about
Shakespeare? A．His date of birth. B．His marriage. C．His life in the Grammar School. D．His date of death. C 解析：细节理解题。由第二段第三句“He almost certainly attended the Grammar
School in the town，but of this we cannot be sure.”可知答案。 5．It can be inferred from Para.3 that ________． A．not all the comments on Shakespeare’s works have produced good effects B．scholars have successfully collected facts about Shakespeare’s life C．critics are more interested in Shakespeare’s play than his poetry D．the details of Shakespeare’s life are more important than his literary works A 解析：推理判断题。由本段最后一句可推知，对莎士比亚作品的评论并不是都起了很
好的影响。其他三项不符合题意。 6．What does the last sentence in Para.3 mean? A．People can’t see the poetry of Shakespeare any more. B．The comment is printed on the poetry of Shakespeare. C．People don’t think the poetry of Shakespeare good any more. D．Some people pay more attention to the comment than to Shakespeare’s poetry. D 解析：推理判断题。由句意“事实上，有时莎士比亚的诗歌在如此多的评论之下好像
就要消失了”可知，有些人对评论的关注超过了对莎士比亚作品的关注。 7．The underlined phrase “Shakespeare’s people” in Para.4 refers to ________． A．the characters in Shakespeare’s works B．the people whose native language is English C．the people living in Shakespeare’s day D．the readers of Shakespeare’s works A 解析：细节理解题。莎士比亚笔下的人物不仅仅愉悦了英国人，同时也愉悦了世界各
地的文学爱好者。可知 A 项正确。 C
Like the possible dangers around the home，getting on the school bus can also bring its own set of dangers. There are several important safety measures that parents should be aware of when it comes to bus safety.
Parents should always make sure that someone is taking charge of children at the bus stop to make certain clear ground rules which are in place and are being followed—particularly rules that forbid horseplay in and around the street.
Teach children to ask the bus driver for help in picking up anything they may have dropped around the bus，as children getting dropped articles are often hit by the bus or another vehicle because they are not seen by the bus driver or by oncoming traffic.
Children should be asked to take five large steps away from the bus when they get it off，and make sure that the bus driver can see you and look you directly in the eyes to signal it is OK to cross the street. It is still very important that children also look both ways as they cross the street.
Inform children that they must never speak to any stranger who talks with them first and that they must never accept a ride from any person unless their parents tell them directly that it is OK.Teach kids that adults should ask other adults for help，not kids.If an adult asks a kid for help，that child should get another adult.
If for any reason a child feels uncomfortable or unsafe at the bus stop they need to bring it to a parent’s or caregiver’s attention.
Remember，planning ahead is always the best safety measure.Follow these rules and your family will be off danger!

D I will not go on about the causes of sunburn because you probably already know. If you get sunburn, you may be feeling a bit embarrassed about it. Once you have sunburn, the damage is done. So try the following ways to ease the discomfort. Cool it down by taking a bath or shower. Keep the water and room temperature warm, especially for children as they may easily feel cold. Some people like to add 1/2 cup of baking soda to the bath water. This may help reduce your pain. You could also place a wet and cool cloth on the burnt area for about 15 minutes. Do that several times a day. Apply moisture(水分). You can choose some cream that makes your skin not that dry. Apply aloe, either the plant form or gel. Aloe contains active things that help reduce pain. Over the next few days, the skin may peel(脱皮). This is the body’s way of eliminating the dead skin, so keep using such cream to help make your skin comfortable. Leave any blisters(水泡) complete. This helps speed healing and avoid infection as burst blisters can easily get infected. You can cover blisters to protect them if needed and definitely do not wear clothing that will cause friction(摩擦) as this can “pop” the blisters. Damaging the blisters can, and probably will cause more
pain with rubbing on soft skin and also cause infection.
Give pain relief if needed. The medicine aspirin is not recommended for children.
At this point, the person may not be comfortable, so do not make it worse by
applying something that can prevent healing and increase or lock in the heat under
the skin, therefore causing more burn damage.
See a doctor if：
▲it covers a large part of the body or is severe in nature.
▲there is a high fever, chills, rash, nausea, and severe pain.
▲feeling faint or dizzy, rapid pulse or quick breathing.
▲extreme thirst, little or no urine output or sunken eyes.
